Downtown Reserve
DESCRIPTION
If you are planning to visit Buenos Aires, don't miss a birding trip in the city of the birds, which can take half a day or the whole day.
Between Puerto Madero and Río de la Plata is the first Natural Protected Area of the City of Buenos Aires, Costanera Sur. Just a few blocks from downtown, this 350-hectare green space leaves skyscrapers and towers behind and gives way to lagoons and marshes, alder forests and grasslands.
Located downtown, it allows you to come across very confident birds and make an incredible list. It is possible to see raptors, hummingbirds, tanagers, screamers, herons, rails, finches, limpkins, woodpeckers and more than 300 bird species!
Arrival to Buenos Aires - After lunch we will go to Costanera Sur. This is a urban reserve, and the place where the reserve is now located, is reclaimed land gained to the river (La Plata river) for a building mega-project that was suspended. A visit to Costanera Sur is always recommended. The amount of species possible to be watched in one day (or half day) depends on the weather, the level of water in the lagoons, but you should expect at least 40 species in a regular morning, and many more in a good one.
